Letters of Interest - Board of Fire Commissioners
The Board of Trustees is accepting letters of interest until Friday, May 24, 2024, from qualified Plainfield Fire Protection District residents who would like to be considered for a June 2024 appointment to the Board of Fire Commissioners
On behalf of the entire staff, I thank you for visiting the Plainfield Fire Protection District’s website. The Fire District prides itself on providing the highest quality Emergency Medical Service (EMS), fire, fire prevention, and rescue services to the residents and visitors of the fire district.
The Plainfield Fire Protection District provides emergency services to areas within the Village of Plainfield as well as portions of unincorporated Will and Kendall County. The Fire District protects 54 square miles with an approximate population of 60,000 residents. We also provide mutual aid services for several of our surrounding communities and are members of MABAS Division 15.
The Fire District currently employs 89 full-time employees. Of those employees, 78 are full-time shift employees divided into three shifts. All shift personnel are certified as Firefighters and licensed Paramedics working out of our four fire stations. The remaining eleven positions are staff positions working out of our Headquarters building.
In addition to providing emergency services, fire prevention personnel conduct fire inspections for all industrial, commercial, multi-family, and schools within the fire district. Additionally, they provide services such as fire extinguisher training and school programs along with attending several other public education events and activities. Our hope is through education we can reduce or eliminate the potential for an emergency to occur.
We appreciate you taking the time to browse our website to learn more about the Fire District. The website highlights the services and activities we offer to the residents and visitors of the community. If you have any questions or want additional information, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Vito Bonomo
Fire Chief
